Product Description Cesar Millan, the acclaimed dog behavior expert, has cared for and rehabilitated dogs for most of his life. Cesar's philosophy espouses that there are no bad dogs. Unruly and aggressive behaviors result from lack of proper training - people training. Cesar and his wife Ilusion realized that owners want to properly control their dogs during walks, but often lacked the necessary tools to do so. They designed The Illusion Dog Training Collar to assist owners in achieving maximum control during walks. It is sized for small to large breeds. The small collar is for dog's with a 13-15 inch measurement around the base of the neck; the medium collar is for 16-19 inch measurements around the base of the neck; and the large collar is for dog's with 20-23 inch measurements around the base of the neck. Note: THIS COLLAR COMES IN RED.
Great training toolNovember 14, 2008 Azure est Amour(Guerneville,CA) After using this collar for several months now I can say it performed exactly as advertised. My dog responds instantly to the slightest tug from me on the leash. He no longer can pull and walks nicely beside me. It was a transformation from the first walk we took. It does not hurt your dog. It makes it uncomfortable them to pull from the top part of the neck.
Good concept - Needs more workOctober 30, 2008 PA Stuff Buyer(Bellefonte, PA) First of all, we marvel at the skills of Caesar Millan and are big fans of the Dog Whisperer TV show.
This collar is a good concept using two concentric collars with vertical pieces to separate them. The upper collar is supposed to stay under the chin of the dog and has a tightening rope lead (like a choke chain) integrated into it where you attach the leash. The lower collar is supposed to anchor the unit at the shoulder and keep it from slipping.
With our dogs, we had success in the past with a conventional choke chain snugged up under the dogs chin to keep its head up and deter pulling. So, the concept works, but a conventional collar or choke chain does not stay up under the chin. Unfortunately, this collar does not stay in position on our dog. We properly size the medium collar for our 50 lb mutt, but our dog has a long-ish neck, so the collar slides down. So if your dog has a long neck this collar will not work. As an improvement, I'd like to see the vertical pieces be made of more rigid material and be adjustable, so you could better anchor the collar at the shoulder and be snug under the dog's chin. Maybe the next version...
Bottom line - I would not recommend this collar if your dog has a long neck. We have had more success with a pronged collar.
Great Tool!August 13, 2008 garlicmama 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am a faithful dog whisperer fan and I try to follow the instructions Cesar gives, but I was still having trouble walking my dog correctly. The biggest problem was that all the collars I tried did not stay up on his skinny, long neck. This is perfect! If you adjust it properly it will work. You can make a correction with very little effort. In fact, don't pull too tight because it is placed high on the neck as it should be, according to Cesar, and you will make an impact without force. To walk the dog properly you need a shorter leash so the set is nice. I'd have to spend money on a shorter leash anyway so for me, the set was a good deal!
Less pulling, more attentionJuly 23, 2008 Lorrilyn J. Bove(Upstate New York) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
With this Illusion collar, my airedale paid better attention to my commands, and she was easier to control. It didn't eliminate the pulling, but it made it much more manageable. I'm sure Caesar could walk her like a charm, but I'm not Caesar! It's worth the investment.
I have 3 dogs and 3 Illusion CollarsMarch 21, 2008 JMV(40 minutes from Chicago) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Well we have 3 dogs all who pull terribly. I bought 1 collar to try it out on 1 of our dogs before jumping into ordering 3. Well I loved it so much that ordered the other 2 the same day I tried the first collar. And let me tell you dog 1 is a cocker Spaniel, 1 a 60lb Mixed Breed, and a Husky(natual puller). All 3 dogs have made vast improvements. If I walk them 1 at a time I get better results but thats because I have to learn how to control one at a time first. I have however ever walked all 3 at once with these collars and it5 did make a huge difference(before I could have never walked all three). Follow the directions and take your time putting on the collar, it takes some practice but gets easier with every use.
